‘Lavender & Legacy’ tour offered at Clifton

Stacey and Kevin Noll of Two Bees Lavender at historic Clifton near Kilmarnock will open their farm and home for “Lavender & Legacy: A 250th Celebration” from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. This event will be a day “that connects the land, the lavender, and the rich story of the Northern Neck and its role in shaping America,” a release stated. Clifton is on both the Virginia Landmarks Register and National Register of Historic Places. Visitors will be able tour the main house and hear about its history, from its construction nine years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence to its current role as the Noll family’s residence. They can meet with a state archaeologist from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources to learn about recent findings, including the location of a cemetery and slave dwelling, that help reveal more about the people who lived and worked at Clifton.
