After nearly 15 years with the organization, Caitlin Donnelly has been named the new Executive Director of the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society. “I’m most excited to take what I’ve learned about the shelter and the community for the past 15 years and use it,” she said. In October of 2011, Donnelly answered a classified advertisement in the Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal to work in the shelter’s cat mall. “Who knew that would turn into my career,” she said. She assumed the executive director position on Monday. “I started just cleaning cat cages, a part-time job.” Since then, Donnelly has been involved in just about every facet of operations at GMHS. She has served as an assistant manager, animal placement coordinator, and communications specialist, experience that is proving to help Donnelly in her new role. “It gave me the insight into how everything works here,” said Donnelly.
