The Gloucester Arts Festival Committee and the Cook Foundation announced in a press release on Monday that the annual festival, now in its 10th season, will not return next year. Instead, the mission of enriching Gloucester through the arts will continue through the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester, Main Street Center. “As the museum grows, it will allow us to expand exhibitions, educational programs and cultural experiences throughout the year, creating even more opportunities to connect our community with art, history and culture,” said the release. Over the past decade, the Gloucester Arts Festival has welcomed more than 200 nationally recognized artists, built a collection of plein air artwork, filled Gloucester’s streets and waterfront with music and creativity, and created experiences for thousands of residents and visitors, said the release.
