The Gwynn’s Island Civic League Foundation is holding a Dine 2 Donate event from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson’s Café at the corner of Main and Church streets in Mathews. For the third year, Richardson’s will be donating a portion of the day’s sales to the foundation in support of back-to-school teacher/classroom supplies for the upcoming school year. In addition, community partners New Point Life Services, Ware Neck Produce and Water Pro have already donated to this effort. Last year’s event raised over $2,200, said a press release, and foundation members took advantage of sales and tax-free shopping days to maximize the amount of supplies provided. “We purchased everything from pencils and erasers to backpacks and binders, along with tissues, sanitizing wipes and white board markers,” said chairman John Mathiesen. “Everything teachers need to get the year started without having to spend their own money. Every dollar collected goes directly back to the classrooms.”...
