The article in the Gazette-Journal about the Cow Creek Mill (“Cow Creek Mill faces uncertain future,” page 1A of Nov. 21, 2024 issue) is sad. I remember as a child going to get meal ground. We would shuck corn—two or three grass bags—load in trunk of car, old Dodge, and go to the mill. We had clean bags to put the meal in. They kept part for payment—a peck or a half peck. This was the early 1950s.
