Letter: Family politics

Editor, Gazette-Journal: I grew up in a family where one parent was a registered Republican and one was a registered Democrat. I never heard them fight over politics, and my father playfully told my mother not to bother to vote because she would cancel out his vote. I am astonished about how much violence, hate, and lies are poisoning our country by the Republican Party. Hearing about all of Trump’s failed businesses, bankruptcies, and affairs as I was growing up and now his felony charges, rape charges, and the January 6 insurrection makes him a criminal. Now he is trying to divide our country and spark another Civil War. He is mean and makes hateful comments towards his opponents. He tells us every illegal move he will make by pretending his opponent will do it. Eventually, both my parents voted on the same ticket and no longer canceled out each other’s vote, beginning with the Obama/Biden ticket in 2008.
