Editor, Gazette-Journal: Thank you to each of the five Gloucester County School Board members who voted to adopt the budget for fiscal year 2024 at the May 25 meeting. You did the right thing, for the families and children and for all the citizens of Gloucester County, and your actions are much appreciated. All the school board members had something they wished could have been added to the budget, but only one refused to make needed concessions to balance the budget and move forward. Thank you to those school board members who understood and did not delay the approval of the budget, leaving the children of Gloucester County without needed funds and services. Sadly, Darren Post refused to approve the budget because his specific request could not be included. Unfortunately, obstruction by Mr. Post, like this instance, has also often occurred in other meetings of the school board, resulting in wasted time and distraction from the purpose and mission of the school board.
