NAMI’s ‘You Are Not Alone’ book donated to local libraries

The Mid-Tidewater chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness has placed copies of a new book, “You Are Not Alone,” in public libraries in Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex counties and throughout the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck. “You Are Not Alone,” NAMI’s first ever book, offers help for the millions of people in the United States who, affected by mental illness, are often unsure how to navigate the mental health system, deal with financial and logistical issues, and handle the emotional challenges of mental illness, said a press release. Written by Dr. Ken Duckworth, who has both the expertise of a leading psychiatrist and the empathy of someone with a family member affected by mental illness, this comprehensive guide includes stories from over 130 people who have been there, including people with mental illness and caregivers.
