9 GHS athletes commit to colleges

Nine Gloucester High School student athletes committed to becoming college-level student athletes during Signing Day at GHS last Thursday. 

Four of the athletes committed to play for college football teams. They included Allah Armstead, who has been a varsity football player for the Dukes for three years. Armstead also played basketball and has been a track athlete. He will play football for Bluefield College while pursuing a degree in sports management. 

GHS linebacker Peyton Carneal, with four years on the GHS varsity football squad, will pursue a degree in economics while playing for Hampden-Sydney College. Carneal has also been a track and field athlete at GHS.

Dukes’ quarterback Isaiah Spencer is a four-year varsity player who has also participated in basketball, baseball and track at GHS. He will study rehabilitation at Old Dominion University while playing for the Monarchs.
