84 East Peer looks to increase community outreach in 2023

The 84 East Peer Recovery Center is looking to increase community outreach for its services by holding different social events and classes throughout the year.

These classes will include NAMI Peer-to-Peer classes in February and March, Women’s Empowerment classes every Wednesday and Introduction to Spanish, and simple cooking classes on Tuesdays.

The group’s social events include monthly get-togethers at the center (7603 Hospital Drive, Gloucester), Whitcomb Lodge at Beaverdam Park and at the Freeshade Community Center in Topping. The center is also planning beach outings and trips to local attractions such as Yorktown, Jamestown and Busch Gardens (these trips have a fee attached to cover the cost of tickets; transportation is provided). These events are open to its peers and the local community.

If you are interested in any of our programs or services, call Pamela Mullins or Amalia Morrissey at 804-210-1619.

The 84 East Peer Recovery Center is part of the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Community Services Board. Its primary objective is recovery, peer support and wellness of community members that suffer from drug/alcohol and or mental health issues. They are partnered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and offer free support and education to individuals and families with mental illness or addiction related issues.

The Resource Center closed out the year on a successful note with a makeover for its female peers on Dec. 19 at the center and its Christmas/New Year’s party on Dec. 21 at the Freeshade Community Center.
