7 shoreline improvement projects approved

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved seven shoreline improvement projects following a series of public hearings on Wednesday, March 8, in the colonial courthouse.

James G. Stevens III was granted authorization to construct a stone sill and low profile breakwater adjacent to property situated along the Ware River at 6590 Jarvis Point Road. In addition, Environmental Programs administrative coordinator Linda Walthall said Stevens received permission for 80 feet of backshore revetment and beach nourishment with spartina plantings.

On a separate application, Walter Zielenski was given the green light to install two spur breakwaters and beach nourishment with spartina plantings adjacent to property situated along the York River at 5182 Weaver Lane.

 John Holt received permission for replacement of a bulkhead adjacent to property situated along the Piankatank River at 11286 Piankatank Drive. The board approved the application of Carolyn Hoover to construct a riprap revetment...
