7 Lady Dukes graduate from GHS softball squad

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team saw seven senior players graduate Saturday after wrapping up a 19-4 season with a first-round loss in the regional tournament.

The Dukes defeated Hampton, 17-7, and Warwick, 6-0, to advance to regional play for the third time in four years and for the 10th time in the past 12 years.

The seven departing senior players had a 78-13 record over their high school careers with a winning percentage of .857. They won two district/conference regular season championships and tournament championships, and had one state tournament appearance. They were also ranked number one in the state for three weeks during the 2015 season.

BreAnna Faulkner, who also played basketball at GHS and swam competitively for a year, was an academic award winner and is headed to James Madison University. Brianna Glockner, also a basketball player and an academic award winner, will attend Lynchburg College. Both girls received the Amber Cook Teammate Award.
