7 GHS softball players earn All-Conference honors

Seven Gloucester High School softball players received All-Conference 10 honors this spring. Junior Shelby Alto and sophomore Morgan Haywood were both named to the All-Conference first team. 

Alto, an outfielder, hit .506 for the season and had 37 hits on the way to the 100th hit of her high school career. Haywood had a 16-2 pitching record and hit .438 while driving in 27 runs. 

Kaleigh Arnett, Alissa Upton, Alyssa Shackleford and Macy Robbins were all named to the second team. Arnett, a sophomore catcher, hit .413 on the season and threw out eight of 12 potential base stealers. Upton, a junior second baseman, hit .393 with several clutch hits during the season.  Shackleford, a sophomore shortstop, hit .417 and drove in 20 runs. Robbins, also a sophomore, played outfield and hit .402 and scored 29 runs. Freshman Nealcyn Watkins was an All-Conference honorable mention and played third base.
