7 GHS girls named to All State teams in field hockey

Seven Gloucester High School varsity field hockey players were chosen for VHSL 2021 All State Field Hockey Teams during the final awards meeting among state tournament coaches.

All State First Team selections were junior Channy Johnson and senior Alexis Adams. Johnson led the team in scoring with 31 goals and 20 assists and eclipsed the 150-point mark for her high school career.

Adams is a no-nonsense defender who leaves her heart on the field with passion. She finished her high school career with 16 goals and 124 assists and will continue playing at Longwood University next fall.

All State Second Team selections included freshman Reese Miller, sophomores Kamryn McDonough and Avery Watkins, junior Kareena Ferguson and senior Aubree Dorsey.

Miller tallied 17 goals and nine assists. Dorsey led the team in the midfield with 15 goals and 13 assists and finished her high school career with 36 goals and 36 assists. She will continue her field hockey career at Converse College in...
