$68,150 awarded in final White Trust distribution

The White-Hudgins Charitable Trust, in its last annual distribution to the faculty, staff and students of Mathews County Public Schools, distributed $68,150 for a variety of school-related needs.

At its June 19 meeting, the Mathews County School Board gave its approval to this year’s list of grant recipients, as recommended by the White-Hudgins Trust Board.

In the past 27 years, the White-Hudgins Trust awarded nearly $1.3 million in grants for the benefit of the school division. The trust is being dissolved; its remaining assets are being transferred to an endowed fund in the Mathews Community Foundation to support professional needs of teachers and staff in Mathews schools as determined by the school superintendent, trust chairman Roz White announced at the May 18 meeting of the White-Hudgins Trust Board. Spendable annual income is presently estimated to be $20,000 per year, she said.
