600+ take part in Saturday’s Gloucester-Mathews Garden Week tour

Early morning dark clouds soon gave way to a near-perfect day Saturday as more than 600 visitors came to Ware Neck to take part in the 2023 Garden Club of Gloucester and Mathews tour, “Ware We Live.”

Unlike years past, with homes and gardens scattered throughout the two counties, this year’s local tour centered on four sites on the Ware Neck peninsula—Glen Roy Plantation, the Leigh House, the Lighthouse and the Gardens at Belle Terre.

“We have received overwhelmingly positive responses from our visitors regarding the beauty of the homes and gardens, the amazing floral arrangements, the professionalism of each volunteer, and the overall success of the tour,” said Leslie Belvin, who was the 2023 tour chair.

Access to the four sites was limited to shuttle buses that took visitors from Brent and Becky’s Bulbs to Glen Roy and from the Ware River Yacht Club to the three other tour locations.
