600-700 attend this year’s Garden Tour

The Historic Garden Week Tour, hosted by the Garden Club of Gloucester on Saturday, drew between 600 and 700 people to see three homes that were new to the tour this year, according to tour co-chairman Nina Watkins.

“We were very pleased with the tour,” Watkins said. “The weather was great, with the exception of midday showers.” She also noted there were “great crowds” at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, where visitors could browse in the garden shop and tour gardens.

The owners of Brent and Becky’s, Mr. and Mrs. Brent Heath, also opened their nearby “eco-friendly” home for the tour. Visitors were taken to the house by shuttle buses from the bulb business at Ware Neck.

At the Heath home on Back Creek, contractor Barry Wass was on hand to discuss the patterned floor he designed that was a highlight. The floor combines seven different woods in a striking pattern. The home features extensive woodwork crafted from “saved wood&rdq...
