596 degrees bestowed upon RCC Class of 2016

Rappahannock Community College bestowed 596 degrees upon the 447 members of its Class of 2016 recently during the school’s commencement ceremony, which was held on the college’s Warsaw campus. 

Among the graduates were 57 students from Gloucester and 28 from Mathews. An RCC spokesperson said many of the students completed two or more programs of study in related fields, which explains the discrepancy between number of graduates and degrees.

Eight students from Gloucester and two from Mathews graduated summa cum laude, which requires a grade point average of 3.8 or above. Summa cum laude graduates from Gloucester were Sydnee Belcher, Timothy Booth, Ashlee Bristow, Michelle Childers, Kelly Hughes, Katelyn McCormack, Logan Pitchford and Laura Redman. Angelina Lewis and Locke Tucker were the two Mathews summa cum laude grads.
