53 entries in Mathews Christmas Parade

Sunny skies prevailed on Saturday, warming enough to make it reasonably comfortable for participants and spectators at the Mathews Christmas Parade. This year’s parade theme was “A Coastal Christmas Celebration.”

Ann Miller, director of the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center, the organization that sponsored the parade, said there were 53 entries in the lineup and a number of awards were given.

“This was our fifth year doing the parade,” Miller said, “and it was by far the best.” She said Saturday’s good weather helped attendance. “It was just wonderful.”

The Bay School Community Arts Center’s entry won best overall to follow the theme.
