Doug Dwoyer and Dave Harlan, from left, were recently recognized as having volunteered over 5,000 hours with the Middle Peninsula Chapter, Virginia Master Naturalists. Dwoyer, a charter member of the chapter, was the first chapter president and chaired the Basic Training Committee for several years. Harlan, a graduate from the first cohort of trainees, is known for his work with Friends of Machicomoco State Park and is president of that group. Other chapter members recently recognized were Christine Corbin and Ginny Miller (250 hours); Maryanna Fisher, Grace Hanners, Tara Hart, Jeannie Miller and Dave Norman (500 hours); Pat Anderson, Carolyn Evans, C.J. Sweet and Henry “Hurricane” Thompson (1,000 hours), and Sherry Rollins and David Yeager (2,500 hours)....
