5 shoreline projects approved by Gloucester Wetlands Board

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved five shoreline improvement projects during its April 12 meeting in the colonial courthouse.

Aaron Ames received permission to construct 460 linear feet of riprap revetment aligned landward of mean low water at property situated along Elmington Creek and the North River at 8711 Dundee Lane.

Linda Walthall, administrator coordinator for Gloucester County Environmental Programs, said the board also approved Ames’s request for a 100-foot by 12-foot riprap sill and two riprap breakwaters totaling 105 linear feet. Walthall said Ames will be permitted to support the planting of wetlands vegetation at the property.

The board set a stipulation that all bank revetment be placed landward of all wetlands vegetation and backfill not to encroach on wetlands vegetation, a staff report said.
