5 GHS hockey players earn national bid

Five Gloucester High School field hockey players combined with four players from other schools Sunday to earn a trip to the U16 National Indoor Field Hockey Tournament scheduled for Feb. 20-22 in Lancaster, Pa.

GHS players Izzy Morande, Taylor Green, Karly Harwood, Cheyenne Hollandsworth and Megan May teamed with Jess Holup of York, Maggie Chaipazzi of Poquoson, Brittany Oliver of Menchville and Jess Meyers of Tabb for a national tournament qualifying event Sunday in Laurel, Md. The girls are all members of the Peninsula Field Hockey Club and represented PFHC in the event.

GHS coach Mike Miller was one of two coaches for the squad, which went 6-1 in the qualifier. The only loss was in a 3-2 game that was won by the ultimate champions.
