42 entries in Saturday’s Gloucester holiday parade

Gloucester’s Main Street welcomed a huge crowd on Saturday afternoon to kick off the holiday season with the annual Gloucester Christmas and Holiday Parade. The parade this year consisted of 42 units all covered in Christmas-themed decorations.
“It’s always amazing to see what these guys come up with. I love the creativity that goes into the floats, the costumes. It’s really good stuff,” said Denise Carter, who has been the chief organizer for the Gloucester Christmas and Holiday Parade for more than 35 years. “Our community always gets excited about this parade and they always kick off the holiday season in the best way,” she said.
The parade was organized by Gloucester Parks and Recreation with the help of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office and others. The lighting of the Christmas tree, which follows the parade, was sponsored by the Cook Foundation and the Gloucester Main Street Association.
