$4,000 in prizes for Mathews Rotary Rockfish Tournament

The Mathews Rotary Club’s annual Rockfish Tournament will be held on the second weekend in December at Morningstar Marinas, Hudgins. The event kicks off the night before, Friday, Dec. 9, with a Captain’s Dinner and Registration from 5-8 at the Piankatank Ruritan Club building, Hudgins.

The tournament boasts $4,000 in cash prizes, guaranteed. This year’s entry fee is $175 per boat with unlimited anglers.

The top prize is $2,000, with $1,000 going for second place and $700 for third. Additional prizes to be awarded include $100 for the one senior, one lady and one youth (15 and under) with the heaviest fish. Weigh-in will be held at Morningstar Marinas from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 11 with awards presented at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Tournament proceeds will be used for local Mathews High School scholarships, and support Nelda’s Closet, Hands Across Mathews, the Boys and Girls Club and other charitable organizations in the county. Along with its Oyster Roast, Party...
