Preparations are underway for the 2018 Mathews Rotary Rockfish Tournament, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15 and Sunday, Dec. 16, with weigh-in at Morningstar Marina near the Coast Guard station at Cricket Hill.

This year’s co-chairmen Steve Cohen and Haskins Ramos will greet participants at the tournament registration and raffle from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14 at the Piankatank Ruritan Club building in Hudgins. Light food and soft drinks will be served. Registration is limited to the first 50 boats to sign up.

Up for grabs this year is more than $4,000 in prize money, including $2,000 for the first-place boat. Second place will receive $1,000, while third place will take home $700. Additional $100 prizes will be awarded to the top senior, female and youth (15 and under) anglers with the heaviest fish. There will also be $100 per day per boat calcutta.
