More than 40 local nonprofit groups will be participating in this year’s Amazing Raise, a 36-hour online giving challenge that inspires and empowers the community to support organizations in the area. This year’s event is scheduled to begin Sept. 17 at 6 a.m. and continue through Sept. 18 at 6 p.m.

The event is sponsored by The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia. According to TCF regional grants management associate Leslie Franklin, The Amazing Raise seeks to promote charitable giving across a wider swath of society than just those who can afford to give thousands of dollars at a time.

“The Amazing Raise is a social catalyst for online giving to our local nonprofit organizations,” Franklin said. “The event allows donors and the foundation to collectively support local nonprofits through one fun event; both through donations and prizes.”
