4 shutouts propel Lady Dukes to 11-0 record

Gloucester High School varsity softball players moved to 11-0 on the season with four shutouts in recent action. 

The Dukes swept an overmatched Denbigh team with scores of 44-0 and 21-0 last week. On April 10 at Denbigh, Kirsten Greene (2-0) pitched a one-hitter while striking out 11 batters. She also added four hits, including two doubles with three RBIs.

Emma West drove in nine runs on a double, a solo home run and a grand slam that landed over the left field fence. Courtney Hall and Makenna Keyes each contributed two hits and Aleigha Freeman had a double and two RBIs with her first varsity base hit.

The next day at GHS, Mackenzie Smith pitched a one-hitter to the visiting Patriots, striking out 10 while hitting two doubles and driving in six runs. Bridget Motley had two hits and two RBIs while Laura Tobin contributed six RBIs. Yasmeen Scesson added a single in the victory for her first high school hit.
