4-H horse clubs compete in Lexington

Saddle Smarts Club earns regional bid

Members of the Saddle Smarts 4-H Club of Gloucester competed at the Virginia 4-H Horse Educational Weekend in Lexington. In the senior horse bowl competition, Saddle Smarts placed fourth overall with Shelley Brown placing second individually and Alyson Brown placing eighth.

In hippology, Saddle Smarts was second with Shelley Brown placing first and Alyson placing fifth. The achievement earned the senior team a bid to compete in the Southern Regionals in Mississippi in July. In horse judging, Alyson Brown and Lilly Johnston teamed with GLOCO club members Megan Wilson-Bost and Monet Wilson to place fourth overall.

The junior Saddle Smarts team placed seventh overall in the horse bowl with Emily Johnston placing fifth individually. In hippology, the team was fourth overall with Emily Johnston placing third individually and Rebecca Turner placing sixth.
