4 four-year starters finish careers with GHS softball

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team ended the 2019 season with a tough 1-0 loss on June 4 to Glen Allen High School in the state tournament quarterfinals. The loss ended the high school careers of five seniors, including four who have been four-year starters for the Dukes.

Yasmeen Scesco played only her senior year, but was an important contributor although she played sparingly. “Yas was a pleasure to have on the team this year. She played and practiced hard and came out every day with a great attitude,” said GHS head coach Red Lindsay. Scesco will be attending Woodrow Wilson College this fall. 

Courtney Hall finished her career after being selected twice to All Peninsula District teams and all region. Hall closed out with 99 runs scored, 83 hits and 75 RBIs. “We will miss Courtney’s hard work and great attitude next year,” said Lindsay. Hall will play softball for Eastern Mennonite College.
