32 teams compete in GHS Track Invitational

The sixth annual Gloucester High School Track and Field Invitational held Saturday at GHS was the best one yet, according to organizer and GHS track coach John Perrin.

Perrin said the event attracted 32 teams and 870 athletes from North Carolina, Richmond, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, the Peninsula, York County and Williamsburg. 

The Colonial Forge girls and the Lafayette boys took first place overall. The Gloucester girls placed 15th among 22 scoring teams and the Gloucester boys were 13th in a field of 20 scoring teams. 

In Gloucester results, Christina Riva was third in the sub-varsity mile in 6:34.01 and Kate Neikirk, Ainsley Miller, Jasmine Bryant and Dayannha Curry were third in the sub-varsity 800 meter relay with a time of 4:51.11.

Ainsley Miller took second place in the pole vault by clearing 7’6” and Vivian Pryor was third in the shot put with a toss of 35’.5”.  For the Gloucester boys, Zack Foley was third in the sub-varsity 100 mete...
