310 home sales in region in first quarter of 2022

During the first three months of 2022, there were 310 home sales in the region encompassing Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex, King William and King and Queen counties, 12 fewer sales than in the same period in 2021, according to a recently released report from the Chesapeake Bay and Rivers Association of Realtors.

First-quarter median sales prices were at $294,534; an 11 percent increase from last year at the same time. There were 261 active listings at the end of the first quarter of 2022.

Gloucester experienced the most home sales in the first quarter, 145, which is 7 percent higher than the same period in 2021. Numbers were also up in Mathews, with 45 sales in the first quarter, compared to 37 in 2021. The number of Mathews sales in the first quarter of 2022 was more than double that of two years ago.
