3 public hearings on planners’ agenda

The Gloucester County Planning Commission will have a busy meeting agenda including three public hearings beginning at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday, March 3, in the colonial courthouse.

A hearing will be held on proposed changes to the zoning ordinance to create a Residential Mixed Use (RMX) district. The intent of the RMX district, a draft said, is to “encourage the orderly development of a residential-oriented, mixed-use neighborhood environment in or adjacent to the village areas as shown in the comprehensive plan.” The villages are at Gloucester Court House and Hayes/Gloucester Point.

The new district is “intended to be served by an interconnected network of streets, walkways and bikeways, pedestrian-friendly streetscapes, and a balanced mixture of supportive higher density, multi-family residential uses adjacent to and/or integrated with limited amounts of commercial and institutional use.”
