3 MHS wrestlers win weight class in district tournament

Mathews High School wrestlers Aaron Miles (113 lbs.), Caleb Sadler (126 lbs.) and Jacob Dalton (170 lbs.) placed first in their respective weight classes during last Wednesday’s Tidewater District tournament, which was held in the MHS gym.

Middlesex was the overall winner in the dual tournament, which also included teams from King William and King and Queen, according to MHS head coach Josh Schaible.

The only home meet for Mathews this year, last Wednesday’s tournament also served as the school’s Senior Night. Sadler, the only senior on this year’s squad, was recognized, along with his parents, Tim and Jeanice Sadler of Cobbs Creek.

Sadler, a member of the MHS wrestling team since the eighth grade, reached a personal milestone last Wednesday night, recording his 100th career win as a Blue Devil.
