3 GHS grads set to begin college softball careers

Three 2019 Gloucester High School graduates will be taking the field in the upcoming weeks to open the freshman season of their college softball careers.

Former GHS pitcher and second baseman Kirsten Greene has been competing for playing time mostly in the pitcher’s circle at Norfolk State University. She has also been practicing at second. 

The Spartans open up Friday in the Blue Hose Invitational hosted by Presbyterian University in South Carolina. NSU will play the hosts at 12:30 p.m. before taking on Robert Morris at 2:45. 

They play South Carolina State at 12:15 on Saturday and Robert Morris and South Carolina State at 10 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., respectively, on Sunday. The Spartans will then be off until a home doubleheader with Radford on Feb. 20.
