3 GHS boats place in Ted Phoenix Regatta

The Gloucester High School crew traveled to Occoquan Saturday for the first time this season to compete in the Ted Phoenix Regatta. The Dukes Rowing team fielded eight entries with three placing in the top three of their events.

For the women, Samantha Fank placed second in her single heat in 7:37.7 and was fifth in the final. The double of Casey Martin and Ashleigh Dough placed second overall with a time of 6:39.4, finishing eight seconds ahead of the third-place boat. Gloucester also entered the women’s junior and novice four races.

For the Gloucester men, Jeb Hutson was third in his heat and placed fourth overall in the single with a time of 7:08. The junior quad of Gage Holland, Mitchell Moore, Titus Fox and Aaron Shank was second in their final in 5:43.7, finishing 1:35 ahead of the third-place boat. The junior four of Hunter Emanus, Ethan Schacht, James Raha and Zane Musick-Williams, with coxswain Alex Bontrager, was second in their heat and third overall in 6:00.6.
