2,800 attend action-packed Comix Con

Despite a rainy Saturday morning, Comix Con drew 2,800 people for a program highlighting comic and action heroes at the Gloucester Library in Main Street Center. Even more had been expected but rain probably kept some away, said coordinator Sissi Mise

The program, which was held under a different name last year and which drew more than 2,000 people, was organized in conjunction with Jersey’s Cards and Comics at White Marsh Shopping Center (owner John Millington) and Conquest Comics, a publishing company.

The featured group was LudoSport Light Saber Academy of Hampton, whose members demonstrated various fighting techniques using light sabers.

Mise said the 501st Legion signed up to attend, with members wearing full character costumes to represent Darth Vader and the other bad guys in the Star Wars movies. Members of the Rebels, Virginia Chapter, who portray the good guys in Star Wars, also showed up.
