20,000+ visit Gloucester Daffodil Festival

Sunny skies and comfortable temperatures provided the perfect setting for over 20,000 people to visit last weekend’s 29th annual Gloucester Daffodil Festival.

Festival coordinator Debbie Wesolowski said this year’s festival certainly exceeded the organizers’ expectations. “The crowds Saturday and Sunday were exceptional,” she said.

Thunderstorms rolled through the area Friday night, just as vendors would normally begin setting up for Saturday’s start to the festival. However, volunteers were on hand as early as 4 a.m. Saturday to make up for lost time. The volunteers, who were from the Daffodil Festival Committee, the Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department and others, had the more than 200 vendors checked in by 9 a.m. Saturday, Wesolowski said.

“Overall, the Daffodil Festival was a great success,” she said. “A highlight was Bria Kelly and the Crazy X Band on Saturday, and the Janitors on Sunday.” She also said,...
