20,000-25,000 attend Daffodil Festival

An estimated 20,000 to 25,000 people attended the 31st annual Gloucester Daffodil Festival Saturday and Sunday in and around the Court House area, according to event organizers.

“It was simply a gorgeous weekend to attend,” said Gloucester’s recreation superintendent Katey Legg, who played an integral role in planning for and ensuring that the festival ran smoothly.

Speaking of the crowds that attended the two-day event, Legg said several food court vendors ran out of their products during the day on Saturday and had to replenish midday, and then again at the end of Saturday. “It’s a good indication when the crowd is still relatively dense at 5 o’clock, which is when the festival closes,” she said.

Overall, Legg said, the event went smoothly. Despite rain throughout the day on Friday, setup went well and many of the vendors were able to get their tents rigged in between rain showers.
