2,000+ attend Gloucester Wine Festival

This past Saturday’s Gloucester Wine Festival attracted more people than ever, according to Gloria Williams, executive director of the Gloucester Chamber of Commerce, which sponsored the event.

She said more than 2,000 people filled the gardens of Brent and Becky’s, Ware Neck, enjoying tastings offered by 13 wineries and a cidery.

“It was awesome … a great day … the biggest one yet,” Williams said. She said that the festival’s being held a month earlier this year meant the flowers at Brent and Becky’s were in full bloom. “It was a huge plus this year that the gardens were in their prime,” she added.

According to Williams, the positive economic impacts the festival is having on the community as a whole is becoming more obvious. She said many local restaurants were full throughout the day with guests to the festival, dinner reservations were plentiful and hotels were booked.
