2 GHS swimmers qualify for regionals

Both the boys’ and girls’ Gloucester High School swim teams have started strong this season and, only three meets into the season, already have two athletes qualified to compete in the Kecoughtan regional competition.

Olivia Cohn qualified to compete in the girls 100 butterfly event with her time of 1:08:29, and Evan Fannin qualified to swim the same event for the boys’ team with a competitive time of 1:01:05.

Last year, GHS boys’ swim team ended the season, 6-3, and the girls team was close behind, finishing at 5-4. Just this year, both of Gloucester’s swim teams have started using a more consistent workout routine at practice that evenly balances practicing technique and improving stamina. Because of this, the GHS boys fully believe they will match last year’s record and the girls’ team reports they could improve by a win compared to their previous total.
