2 GHS seniors serve as state-level officers in clubs

Two Gloucester High School seniors have become leaders in their co-curricular student organizations and picked up workplace readiness skills along the way. Brittany Smith and Licia Washington are state-level officers in their clubs and say they are gaining much from the experience.

Smith said she was encouraged by her former economics teacher David Dick, now at Warhill High School, to join the Future Business Leaders of America at GHS. “I wasn’t in any club and I thought it would be good for college so I got involved as a sophomore,” she said.

By the end of her sophomore year, Smith said she thought, “I love this. I want to help kids have this experience,” so she ran for president of the GHS chapter. “Just like other kids smile when they talk about their sports, I smile when I talk about FBLA.”
