2-day C.E.R.T. training to be held later this month

Training for potential Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) members for Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex counties will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28, at 7478 Justice Drive, Gloucester.

The training prepares residents to help their communities during an emergency, said a press release. They learn to manage utilities and put out small fires, provide basic medical aid, search for and rescue victims safely, and more.

C.E.R.T. is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens may initially be on their own, said the release. While people without training will respond to others in need, said the release, the C.E.R.T. program helps them do so effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in unnecessary danger.
