16 MHS players win district accolades

First- and second-team All-Tidewater District picks were announced Tuesday, and Mathews High School had six baseball players make the list, five soccer players and five softball players, according to information provided by MHS athletic director Paul White.

Baseball

For baseball, MHS had four first-team selections: Christian Williams at pitcher; Jalen Matthews at third base, and Ethan Armistead and Cody Tunstall in the outfield. Three MHS soccer players earned first-team All-District—forward Jonny McCann, midfielder Jaysen Hall and defender Calvin Kramer. Midfielders Will Hutcheson and Kayla Stearns were named second-team All-District.

Softball
