Winter may be here, but the Gloucester Daffodil Club is at work planting daffodil bulbs. Members have planted thousands of bulbs in their personal gardens, but have still found the time to plant 13,316 bulbs in nine locations across Gloucester for the public to enjoy this spring. Daffodils have been planted on Main Street in Gloucester, including at the Gloucester Museum of History; at Page Middle School on T.C. Walker Road; at Rappahannock Community College at Glenns; and at other sites. In one instance, a donation from Brent and Becky’s Bulbs enabled the club to plant 7,700 daffodil bulbs on the north side of the Shops at Tidemill. Jay Hutchins, general manager of Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, led the way on this planting session, using his Dutch bulb planting machine, which can place thousands of bulbs in a matter of minutes.
