12U All-Stars place second in Southeast Regional

The Gloucester 12U All-Stars were the runners-up in the Cal Ripken Southeast Regional Baseball Tournament played July 24-28 in Holly Springs, N.C.

The Gloucester boys started the tournament strong last Thursday with a 9-2 win over the Florida state champs. Cash Watkins pitched an incredible game with 13 strikeouts, while Cody Shiflett led the offense with a home run.

Gloucester bested the hosts from Holly Springs in the second game of the day, 8-5. Blake Taylor hit a double and drove in a run in the first inning the scored on a single from Jordan Roane. Roane hit a double and drove in two more runs in the second. Watkins accounted for the final run of the game with a solo home run.

 

 

On Friday, Thomas Horsley pitched a 10-0 shutout against South Carolina. Hunter West contributed a stand-up triple to the effort and Taylor had a double.
