$11,000+ raised for Gloucester schools at Saturday’s run

More than $11,000 was raised for Gloucester schools at Saturday’s Gloucester County Public Schools Educational Foundation’s 3K/8K Walk/Run.

Nearly 260 people signed up, at least 65 volunteered and many others attended to support the event, which was held at Gloucester High School. More than 25 businesses and individuals also contributed financially.

After race expenses, the foundation netted $11,177 for local schools. “We are thankful to our generous community for giving to our schools,” campaign and event chair Sharon Stone said. “Our sponsors, volunteers, participants, their families and friends and many others came out to support education in Gloucester.”

This event is the foundation’s only fundraiser, and all proceeds benefit Gloucester public schools, including the Teacher of the Year program, which recognizes outstanding performers, and school mini-grants, which help teachers offer more educational opportunities for students.
