11 Lady Dukes returning to softball team

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team ended its season at 17-5 and will return 11 players next year. The Dukes graduated only sisters Jackie and Kayla Tobin from their successful lineup.

Jackie Tobin was named to the All Conference 10 First Team as the designated hitter. She hit .388 and drove in 20 runs. 

Kayla Tobin ended her career as a four-year letter winner with an 8-2 pitching record, including a 3-1 decision over Indian River in the conference tournament as a freshman. She was also the 2017 recipient of the team’s Amber Cooke Teammate award.

Rising junior Bridget Motley was another All Conference 10 First Team pick at catcher and received an All 5A South Region honorable mention. Motley had 40 hits and hit .500 on the season while driving in 37 runs from her leadoff spot.
