11 GHS student athletes taking it to the next level

Eleven Gloucester High School student athletes have committed to taking their sports to the college level. The students were recognized with a small ceremony on Wednesday, May 26, in the school gymnasium.

Playing field hockey at the collegiate level will be Brook Billhimer at Christopher Newport University, Meadow Spears at Virginia Wesleyan University, Cara O’Beirne at Longwood University and Marie Wilson at Eastern Mennonite University.

Alec Daniel and Nicole Pinder will participate in cross country/track and field at Longwood University, Jack Sandahl will play volleyball at Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina, and Hunter Sturgeon will play baseball at Eastern Mennonite University.

Also, Destin Forrest will play football at Bluefield State College in Bluefield, West Virginia, Douglas Pruim will play football at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland and Bailey Hudgins will play baseball at Thomas Nelson Community College.
