Mathews first graders were surprised last Thursday afternoon when they went to pick up their assignment packets and were greeted by Cruella De Vil and the 101 Dalmatians (actually only five Dalmatians). The First Grade Team kicked off the Halloween weekend fun a little early to cheer up their students, who have been attending class virtually. And some of the students also dressed up for Halloween as well. “The children were precious coming up to see us in their costumes,” said teacher Amy Shaw. “It was one of the best days this year.” Nicole Bittner portrayed Cruella, while Barbara van Emmerik, Jennifer Smith, Judy Emanuel, Shaw and Kathy James, from left, were the Dalmatians.
