More than 100 families took part in Saturday’s regional diaper and infant car seat distribution, sponsored by Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Behavioral Health (formerly Community Services Board).
It was held at two locations with the help of community partners—the King and Queen Family C.A.R.E. Center at Shacklefords in partnership with Thrive Virginia and Montross Community Park in partnership with the Westmoreland Department of Emergency Medical Services.
Families taking part each received a one- to two-month supply of diapers and wipes.
“One in three families is affected by diaper needs, regardless of age, race, or income,” said organizer Debbie Lancucki of Three Rivers Healthy Families. “Families are making choices between diapers and other necessities when they can’t afford both.”
In addition, over 30 safety car seats were distributed to families through Three Rivers Healthy Families’ participation in the Virginia Department of Health car seat distribution program.
